The Concordia partly capsized near Giglio on 13 January 2012 after being steered too close to the shore, seeing thirty-two of the 4,229 people onboard killed. The wreck of the cruise liner may be removed from the island of Giglio on 22 July, one day later than planned, according to an Italian official overseeing salvage operations.
