Bei einem Brand in einem Altersheim sind am frühen Mittwochmorgen in Südkorea mindestens 21 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Weitere sieben Menschen wurden verletzt, sechs unter ihnen sind in kritischem Zustand, wie die Zeitung Korea Times online berichtete.

Es sei zu fürchten, dass die Zahl der Todesopfer noch steigen könnte, hiess es weiter. Die Ursache des Brandes in dem Heim in Jangseong im Süden des Landes war zunächst unklar. Viele der Heimbewohner konnten aus gesundheitlichen Gründen ihre Betten nicht verlassen, schrieb das Blatt.
