Taufbecken, Pastaschüssel, Caddy – wozu der Stanley Cup im Sommer «missbraucht» wurde
Heute beginnt die neue NHL-Saison: Titelverteidiger Pittsburgh und alle anderen Teams haben sich akribisch darauf vorbereitet. Den härtesten Job hatte allerdings der Stanley Cup. Die Siegertrophäe der besten Liga der Welt hatte seit dem Titelgewinn der Penguins Mitte Juni keine ruhige Minute.
100 Tage lang darf die Siegermannschaft den Pott behalten. Seit 1994 ist es zur Tradition geworden, dass jeder Spieler den Cup einen Tag lang zur privaten Verfügung hat. Immer mit dabei: Einer von fünf «Hütern des Pokals» («Keeper of the Cup»). Sie achten darauf, dass der traditionelle Missbrauch des Cups nicht ausartet. Stripklubs und Spielkasinos sind beispielsweise tabu.
In diesem Sommer war Philip «Phil» Pritchard der Aufpasser – er hat seine verrückte Reise mit dem Stanley Cup auf Twitter akribisch dokumentiert. Vom Cupgewinn der «Pens», über den Besuch bei Mark Streit in Bern, bis zur Gravur vor dem Start in die neue Saison. Auf geht's!
